CGTalk - new pc and 64 bit

i´m planning to buy a new computer. most likely it will be a mid-range system from dell. is there anything i will need to take into consideration from the hardware side, to make sure that it´ll be able to run any 64 bit software? i just heard that there will be a 64 bit maya 8 and i wanna make sure, that my next pc will be able to run it.

Almost all modern x86 based CPUs are 64bit. Its as simple as ensuring you have a copy of 64bit Windows.
