Will take some time until it's done.

Wow, just when I thought it was game over for that tool! I never use the current "Bool Tools" ( I learned to dislike them using Alias Power Animator - sorry, I didn't mean to swear in here) in Cinema.
I look forward to the new ones though! Looks like they work like they should have in the first place! :)

:buttrock: Is it me or i see n-gons used there? ;) I hope to see these new things in the next point release :wavey:

Looks very good. Is this for Cinema9, or for some update?????

This is too good.
What's the catch?

Hi,
sorry, no n-gons. It's the same handy trick Power Bool uses. Newly created edges can be hidden.

btw when will be this added to C4D? a point release or R9?
Hi,
i don't think we will wait until R9, but a release date is not yet fixed.

oh yes!! this ive been waiting for for aaaages, great news! :D
Excellent
I can see our modellers catching up with the other apps :)
Seeing as bools sound like they are pretty much sorted Srek,is there a pot of Ngons on the boil next to the bools pot :D {was worth a try}

A question for Srek: even if it's not a full winged edge ngons system this method hides the unwanted edges, right? Does it work only with bools or with other C4D tools (like knife for example) too?

Maybe I'm missing something, but what's the advantage of hiding edges if the geometry is still screwed up. I understand the geometry is better with the new bool tool (trademarking that phrase :)), but why would hiding edges be beneficial generally? Can I answer my own question? It would make hidden-line renders a lot easier in some cases.

Uhm other tools don't have this built in yet, and I don't know if maxon intends to, but you can hide edges already by selecting the desired edges, and in the selection menu select "hide selection"
One note it doesn't affect hiddenline renders :( I wish it did myself, time to mention this as a feature request I think. The advantage is when working in the editor its easier to see, and I think (not sure as I haven't done complex scenes) that it displays faster.

First of all thank you for your reply kai. Second... yes i can already hide edges now but my mesh remains unoptimized when i smoothe it

same problem when using better boole, its only visually hiding the edges, they are still there look at the pyramid subdivided.

It doesn't seem they're still there

Srek posted elsewhere that the topology is much improved *in addition to* some of the edges being hidden. That explains why the objects smooth better.

If they applied the same method to all the other modeling tools of C4D we could have a ngons-like system (like Max), am i wrong?

thirdeye, look carefully at the subdivided one, you can see thet the must be an edg goin from the inner triangle vertex to the outer as the subdivided onehas an edge running aonge there

Srek: youre a STAR!
After all the s**t maxon received about bools etc....i think its commendable that you have taken some action so quickly to give users some solution....so top marks to Maxon for trying to give users what they want and keep banging on about....cos for a minute there i thought we were all banging our heads against a wall....but it seems not....so good on ya all....:buttrock:

Hold it :)
i'm just the one to tell you about the tool. The only thing i had to do with the development is to test it. I was asked by the author and the product manager to show something publicaly nothing more nothing less.

certainly looks interesting, I'd be curious to see something more complex made using these new bool tools ( copyright adamt 2003 :P )
perhaps some sort of face or hand perhaps

why owuld you build a face using booleans??? That makes no sense, now egine pieces, that makes sense.

I wouldn't, just wondered what kind of smoothing you'd get on something that complicated,
engine stuff would've been a better example I guess :p , could make some excellent robotic parts this way too :D
