I am working on a bit of character animation and I wanted to share what I had and open it to some constructive criticism. This is a one minute piece called "Trigger". I modeled, animated and rendered it in Maya. I welcome comments.

The animation is more or less complete but for some problems that I am currently trying to resolve with secondary movement and some odd "3d animation"-looking motion in the arms of both characters.

Anyway, check it out. Its about 8 megs in AVI DIVX.

Indeed, I used Maya 4.0 for all the animation and modeling, yada yada. All the textures are procedural. I was thinking about changing the lighting setup to something more like GI and rendering everything in Renderman. I'm still learning how to use it though and I haven't quite figured out how to layer procedurals yet.

Don't be afraid to tear me a new one if you think something should change, btw. ;)

There was some issue with my domain server not working. It should be fixed now.

I like it. I think that there are some problems with that headlight thing on both of them. Doesn't seem to move consistently.

Cheers. Yeah. I'm working to fix that. I'm trying to find a good way to rig that thing but haven't quite found a viable solution yet. Same with the currently immobile tail. Right now its a string of joints controlled using the old 'select -hi' trick. That's apparently not the best solution.

Any ideas?

Oh and if anyone was having problems seeing the thing, the dns that controls my domain is apparently wonky, so here's the ip:
