Hi! your first matte looks good to me =)I think the mountains are too white and look at the eagle and the balloon. They are almost on the same diagonal and this fact makes the animal too big I think. About hiding the grass with the brush, IŽd be more careful with this aspect cause it makes the elements too smooth and loses reality, and the same to the shadows but hey! youŽre starting and I know youŽll get a great level. Good luck and I encourage to you to make more mattes:thumbsup:

Hi PaulK, i agreed whit gonzalo, you must be a bit carefull whit shadows and dimension. I am a newby to in matte paintings (i made my first one for atlantis unofficial chalenge) but i can give you some tips for composition, you can give more deep feeling not only whit the brighness (like the white mountines of your image), you can get an space area among planes using color saturation, as far is an object a less saturation, near objects should be more saturated (obviusly it depends on the color).
Also the lake have a glass look and feel (dont know if it is the point) mountain border is a bit shini, be carefull whit selections.
I made plentty of critics since i think they may be helpfull for you, i hope they can be usefull for you.

Keep working on your skills and i am sure you can reach the level you wish.
