View Full Version : setting applications to run @ startup
tecton3d 07-28-2006, 06:38 PM probably a setting I'm just overlooking, but how do you go about setting up an application to run @ startup of windows? I'm trying to configure my rendernodes to automatically load Backburner (server), the Final Render DR app, and UVNC so once I power them on I don't have to fuss with them:)
OS is xp pro 32 (ATM)

If you want it to run on login just put it in the autostart folder.
If you want it to runa anyway, regardless if someone logs on then you have to start it as a service. Either your app supports this directly or you have to use a tool to do this. The only one i currently know of is available if you have subscribed to MS technet.
Alternatively if the machine is not used by anyone else (pure renderclient) enable auto logon and put the app in the autostart folder.

I second that. google for programs to make things run as a service. but yea easy thing might just be the auto logon and then put the programs in the start folder.

thanks for the replies!
these are pure renderclients so a simple copy to the startup folder did the trick

You can install Backburner Manager and Server as Services so that they are always running... that's the preferred method but your method will work as well.
