Been quite a while, decided to get in on this one. I wanted to do something showing the relationship of the living things of this world, as far as I can see it, humans are fauna too but sometimes we forget it.

The following is some story behind the sketch:

And, as The King of the Vagrants plummets to his death from the harsh obsidian cliffs, a raven takes wing and yearns for the sky. One king dies, another is born, fauna for fauna, life for life.

Ballpoint pen on paper, 45 minutes.
Hope you liked it even if it is a midge small and a lot of detail was lost scanning it...

*quickly skipping the explanatory text that fills in the image with different sensations than my own*

That's lovely. It's material for a book without text, just page after page of such images. Kind-of make your own story, only with visuals and without story. It's quite nice :)

Good story, Blithe. Is that from a book, or poem?

JeroenStout-Thank you, that's kind of my goal, to create an image that is narrative and allows you to put together your own story behind who the characters are, what world they're living in, their emotions, their history etc etc.
Wiggin-Nope, it's straight out of my head!

Gah! Missed so many nice topics!

2hrs exactly (well, to the nearest minute), Photoshop. Situations like these are why I don't leave my living room after dark.

So here is my input for this one.
First thing that comes into mind hen i think of fauna is mosqitos moths and other little evil devils who want to suck my blood....so i suspect that it has to be some kind of evil conspiracy against me. So here it is alien fauna invading our swamps and wilderness..... i sugges e all stay indoors afterdark and arm ourselves ith OFF and rolled newspapers.

Im not too happy with the detail level...ill have to figure this wacom thing out....used 2 brushes ..havent tryed texture/pattern brushes yet.
PS and it is also my 4th digipainting attempt ever..comments and critique are welcome.

6hrs photoshop+wacom
it is called >>>

After having been away for a while from this great sketching forum, I felt it was time for a new attempt! I've been practising blending colors and creating a more personal painting-style the last time, and I think that shows out of this image.

30 minutes, Photoshop 7

The only fact is that it's a 'kind of bird' - it doesn't make any sence besides that... :D

I kinda wanted to work longer on it... but being without internet this past week has left me with a lot of daily sketches to catch up on. ... onward!

Nice stuff, Brit! I like how in quite a few or your sketches you mix almost dodged highlights into generally subdued tones. I can't comment on that scary-ass donkey, though...if I met a donkey like that I'd probably think it was a wizard trapped in a donkey's body.

And then I'd make it grant my wishes!

What were you saying? Ah - of course; onward!

All started with me wanting to sketch something. I decided to go for a total change of style, just to try out. But I didn't want to copy other people's style. So I let my pen run on the tablet and sketched out something looking like a striped bottle. I made a stripped giraffe out of it and thought it'd be cool for the 'cool' topic. But then I lacked inspiration and that's where the "fauna" topic came back in mind. Of course there's no way I can compete with the existing entries, so I just made some stylized animals with simple colours and this is what I ended up with after roughly one hour of time ( I lost track of time completely, so it might actually be less than that)

Yes, I know. No, I don't do drugs, never. You're right, it probably belonged to the "what the ****" topic... Oh well never mind :)
