i am a little late for starting this challenge, but i just got zbrush and had to try it out a little. i plan to do this challenge with zbrush and hope to learn through the challenge to really use this wonderful ztool.

i will do the brainigans - this is a race of middle earth consisting only of women (they reproduce by splitting into two - quite painful for them, but this ensures they will not overpopulate - the older ones die at very high age). they are a mixture of human and salamander with a huge brain. they live in caves where they are watch(wo)man for diamonds, etc. as they are quite weak (physically) they usually do have some strong doglike beast with them, to protect them.
the brainigans are a very peaceful race, they never would attack, they love nature and all types of critters, and they are very very shy, it is real luck if you can spot one of them.

here is a first concept of a brainigans head.

very creative concept kokoro! I really like the head of the brainigan, and the body of the dog, but i cant help feeling as though the dog would tip forward in that stance. Maybe make the legs a little beefier? Leaning him forward will give it a more ferocious look for sure, so keep that like it is :) Good job so far, cant wait to see the progression of a zspheres model

as you can see - i had problems with putting a shirt on her. she was too high poly for my poor comp, so i could not model cloth on her directly. thus - i restarted her as adaptive skin from the spheresmodel. thats how far i got...

i was very busy last time. hope i make it in time.

i changed the body again. was not satisfied. this is done with zsperes with the new attractor spheres.

oh they shrinked the size for attachments even more.... sorry for the poor quality.

hi Satyricon - nice to meet you again. here is some more update. i worked on the dog. again, i remodeled the whole. the first one was to cartoony. the face is close to finished, the body obviously needs a lot of work....

Hiya Kokoro, your winged woman and her pet make an interesting pair. She's pretty funky. I reckon the wings might have been better if they were feathered instead of silvered - don't know if you've time to change it now, though.

I also checked out some of your other challenges out of curiosity. My fave is the 'Extreme Sports' one.:D

Hey again Kokoro, took a look at your background. Very nice.:)
Never mind those feathered wings now, they'd take a lot of doing. Bat wings would've been better, but nah - the metal wings look kind of ornamental, anyhow.:D

hi grub - you gave me a nice idea, with your description how you see the image: i build a neat mask for her - its just zspheremodel - , so she is now very good protected, not only by the dog...

yes, you are right. the feathers were too difficult for that short time. itīs a pity. but her body with the wings is an adaptive skin from a zspheremodel, so making feathered wings, means changing the model by adding new spheres, and thus i would need to repaint the whole texture...
