well im about to purchase a wacom tablet but i have my doubts...

for example : the wacom graphire 4x5, that size its what you get on the screen? i mean if you draw a line across the tablet from top to bottom or whatever which it means 4 inches my question is.. then you got a 4 inches line in the screen or how this is projected what are the scaling proportions or something like that?

somebody have wacom 4x5?

The Wacom is position relative, with a 4x5 the top left of the tablet is the top left of your screen, and the bottom right of the tablet is the bottom right of your screen.

This is reasonably workable if you work on pretty broad strokes, or zoom in a bit.

You can also change the active area, setting the points on your screen you wish to be represented by the tablet.

If your screen is not approximately the same ratio as the tablet (4:5) you will find that if you draw a circle it will come out as an elipse. setting the active area to the right ratio will get you past this.

I own the above mentioned wacom. And use the 6x8 one at work. For the real world use they are about the same. Cost wise its smarter to go with the 4x5 get best bang for the buck.
I bought 3 of them and 2 are still new sealed in box. Haven't wore out my first one yet...might sale the other to on ebay i think. Great product long lasting, and cheap at 100USD.

i think 6x8 its more confortable but i didnt met em in person im speaking by the pictures

100 bucks its very nice and i think the price its going down but 6x8 caught my eye
can you tell me the diferences between this 2(hand position, screen scaling etc) :love:im going to look at em tomorrow and i got to be sure!:deal::applause:

I like my 4x5 it doesn't get in my way, however, I've always been tight with my strokes and never needed much more room than that.

512 levels is fine, chances are you are only painting in 24 bit, which offers 256 levels :)

Personally I'd go for an Intuos before I went to a bigger size, the tilt sensitivity goes a long way :)

Antrent has a valid point if you can afford the intuos 4x5 that would be of great use than a graphire4 6x8

Go ahead and sell those, you are not going to wear out the tablet anytime soon. I have had my Graphire2 4x5 for just about 5 years now as my only pointing device and other than the erasor (knocked the pen off the desk too many times) it still works fine.
