You know, that's really just cool. I really dig it.
The head totally rocks. Something about the model, though...It's like there is no common theme. You have so many different elements going on, that I find it hard to get an overall feel for the character. Don't get me wrong, I really like it overall.
I think it's the difference in detail. The head is very detailed, but the "body" is very simple. I'd concentrate on making the overall design a bit more uniform, as well as add details.
Again, look'n killer, dude. I bet he'd(?) be cool to animate.
Best of luck, man.

thanks for the reply. your right he has no theme...which is perfect because the whole idea behind him is he is a monster warrior type thing in post apocolyptic times that fights in a arena and is controled by his maker, which only had one month to put him together with spare parts. for example the spine of a animal and a stop sign(once textured) for a chest.
also you are right to point out no detail on the body....i accually just started on the detail. right now it is just roughed out. im also brain storming to figure out what else i need for him so if anyone has any suggestions. thanks
oh btw this is my first character model and only my 3rd model ever so im a tad slow and learning how to use max as i go along.

i think i have him in a pose where he is recharging. so the tubes go to something that recharges him or it is his soure of power in the arena and he is kinda like a marrionette. i havent really thought about it.

Very nice, I like it a lot. Don't really have any crits, I'm more of a newbie than you are, but I love the idea of the robot made from junk, and I think you've implemented it well. Can't wait to see it textured!

it does look funny. its more of a clothe that just covers him. it didnt translate very well from 2d to 3d i guess. ill try to come up with something better.
