View Full Version : Does the Convert / Displacement to polygon work only in 8bits depth ?

Simple question...

Does the Convert / Displacement to polygon work only in 8bits depth when you've connect a 16 bits Tiff file to your shader ? I got a terraced mesh like !

Here a screenshot of what I get from the Convert Displacement to polygons.
As you can see It looks like if I have used a 8 bits depth but It's still a 16 bits Tiff file That I've used.

I've got the same Terraced problem when I've tried to use that Zdepth map (displacement 16 bits) with the Sculpt geometry tool / import attribute. Have a look at this thread (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=385921).

PS: I've tried to tweak the File node and add a Gaussian PreFilter of 4 and I've notice a significant improvement of the shape but there is still a kind of terraced shape.
