View Full Version : Easy motion track Q
DjimiFett 07-27-2006, 02:25 PM I have a qtime from getty which consists of a man walking from the right of the frame to the left.
I want to pin him to one central point, almost as if he were on a treadmill.
i'm having a 'brainfreeze' today.. Thanks

Tracker Controls>Stabilize Motion
I'm not sure if you'll have a usable point to track on a walking subject. Maybe the head would be the most usable spot.
If you resort to manual adjustment, drop some ruler guides to the left and right of the subject and keyframe the position to stay within the guides.. and magically make it look smooth by waving your magic wand, or shear diligence.. whichever happens first.

I used his head like you suggested, as you can see there is contrast between the white of his hat and the background so it follows it without problems.
But, it still isn't pinned to one spot. Where am i going wrong?

Probably you ain't tracking a corner, but an edge. This will cause the tracking point to slide on that edge instead of tracking one explicit point. Post a close up of the area you want to track, will be easier to suggest another point you may track.

Make sure to close out the tracking window so you aren't look at the footage itself, but the comp.

Looks like you already applied the tracker to the transformation. If you did, there must be a visible change, wether right or not. Are you sure that you are in the composition and not in the layer view anymore(you can't see the track points in the composition)?
I wouldn't track his head against the background but the point where the shirt meets the neck(see attachment) though it is impossible to predict the behaviour of that point for a whole sequence by seeing just one frame.
