Title: Night Elf - Contemplation
Name: Renee Bailey
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop
This began as a work to practice skin/form and I wanted to turn her into an elf. She is still a version of a regular Lord of the Rings type elf on a PS file somewhere But then I thought, since I started playing World of Warcraft again, why not do a night elf? I've /always/ wanted to. So here she is.
Photoshop, probably 10-12 hours, but I lose count :)

Awww no one likes Night Elves? I figured there would be some World of Warcraft fans out there in the ether...
Well in any event, I would appreciate any crits or comments!
I wonder if people think she's supposed to be a human and I totally messed up her skin? LOL...
She's a Night Elf, she's supposed to have a different color... :D :D

ok, I don't know why I didn't see this earlier. I have to compliment you on your choice of colours, the purply hues work very well to give a feeling of mystique and the twilight. Anatomywise, it's a brave attempt, I mean, BOTH HANDS! I quail at the thought of such a feat. The breasts look like they're too big, but I'm not entirely sure. I think the eye in the back is a little off also, otherwise, thumbs up!

Hey! thanks for looking :)
Haha!, I'm so new at this that I don't even think about the fact that I have to try two hands! But what do you mean about the back eye? How is it off? A little more specificness could help a great deal, as I really don't know whatcha mean :D And about the boobs, well, boobs are different sizes on every different woman, and mine are kinda big for my body size, so hehehe I dunno! :D

originally I thought it was a little too high up the face (the eye that is) but it might just be due to the angle of the piece, didn't really think about that. Ahhh, how nice to be able to paint without "ok, I can't do that... let's give up now"
;)

Hey Renee, this caught my eye in the thumbs before I realised it was your painting! I think she's lovely, the glow she has in her eyes is really well done. I like the texture you've applied across her skin, it looks very convincing, especially on her shoulder. I think perhaps a little more work on the hand in the lower right would have finished the piece nicely, but it's not too distracting. A great image, and an improvement too. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Zephyri!!
I agree about the hand, but I sort of didn't know what else to do --that happens a lot to me. I get to a point where I'm just starting at it and have no idea what /else/ to do to it ya know? I just don't know how to do a lot of things yet, so I muddle through.
I guess I could try a crop? I've gotten that suggestion a couple times since I've shown it.

I don't play WoW but I do play Wc3 and that still has nightelves, and I can say for sure that yes she does need purple skin.
I think the problem with the back eye is that it's too small, should be almost the same size as the eye closest to us.
But my major problem is with the background, it's not very nightelvish. Why not go with the typical forest?
Still, when I saw the expression I could see exactly what you meant by that title. It really does look like she's contemplating something and that's the main thing I guess.
Well done!

Hehe, you need to play the game to know that Night Elves have tons of variations on skin color - But you wouldn't know that from just playing WC3, where they all look exactly the same. The game has tons of different types ;)
Also in regards to the background, gotta play the game to know why I chose a temple! Hehe :D
Thanks for looking though Pap, I appreciate it! :) I did have her back eye bigger at one point and it looked beyond weird to me, so I change it back - I guess it's just a viewer thing really, and that's ok with me - it's all practice. It's not like I'm an actual artist or anything, haven't even been at this a year and no training! Eventually I'll get it right.
:D

Updated the image with some fixes. Any more help regarding how to refine the hands would be much appreciated! :)

Well you got the eyebrows in there for the night elf look :)
The hands, night elfs do have rather large hands...maybe just tweek the nails a bit (wider)... like the thumb.
