Alienware laptops with desktop base processors are now upgradeable. Thats including motherboards, screen and paint jobs...now thats sweet! All u have to pay is shipping and parts. They are out of 512 sticks mem, right now...I want a gig of mem, but as soon as they become available, Im replacing my 850 mgz desktop!

Alienware uses regular Sager laptops, mainly the 5660 series I believe. They have been labled the fastest and the first to have the mobile 9000 Radeon when it came out.

I was actually going to buy Sagar, but Alienwares upgrade policy changed my mind. I found about 6 other companies that offered the same setup as Alienware...same case, same ATI 9000 video card, same display. Some companies will even paint the case similar to Alienware laptop. They are all made by a company called Clevo. Here is a good reading site:

It talks about who actually makes laptop such as Toshiba, Dells and Apple. There is also an interesting article on Pentium 4 vs Pentium Mobile 4 on laptops.

Here are links to other companies that offered a similar setup as Alienware.
