Does anyone have any idea how I can make my Geometry unselectable without using a Layer?

Ultimatly I want to have it set as an Attribute of my Base Controller, as it is right now , you can change his Smoothed Divisions from the control box up to 1 or 2 times or lower him down to Low poly as well as turning off the Geo, but I want to set up the Geometry so that you can See if but can only select it if the Attribute (Selectable Geo) is set to on.

Under objects drawing overrides section in attribute editor enable overrides and set display type to reference. You can also connect other attributes (selectable_geo) to this attribute for instance:
connectAttr -f control.selectable_geo myObject.overrideDisplayType

-rok
