very cool, what program did you use?

O.Martin

THX!
I used Maya for the modelling. Started out with NURBS, trimmed the surfaces and converted it to polys and did one level of smoothing. Rendered it in Cinema4D. All work done in OSX.

love it, just one functional problem with it, what if you get a flat rear tyre?

O.Martin
01-21-2003, 11:11 AM
If you get a flat rear tire, you lift off the panel covering the rear wheel... Or you just buy a new car...

the panel is kinda big, but I guess it would be ok :)

Still your entry is definetly the most practical one there and looks the best :) love the classic feel

sweet lookin design, I like the classic elements,, but more I like to combined new style and old style, very well done. Great job on the convertable top, I working on something like that now. Your work has always been top notch. keep it up.

It looks great but the seats look like they are metal or are hard plastic. Mabe if you gave them a leather or just softer look to them.

What about the gas? Where do you put it in? Maybe I'm just being picky but they might look for things like that.
Good luck.

I like it!

But the tail looks very much like from a Aston Martin,...There is one from AM, I have that pic anyhwhere on my harddisk ;)

I was to late to send in my design.
Maybe next time ;)

Thx for the resonse!

Hyperman - You must export Maya models as OBJ to import it in to Cinema4D.

Fingolfin - I didn't have time to do more details, sorry. The day has only 32 hours you know...

Daniel - Aston Martin? Maybe the roofsection may look kind of Vanquish from some angles, but the rear? Please show me the picture you have.

As of the other finalists, I think most of them are very good. If I had to pick a few favorits...:
- "Retro Project Lion" - excellent rendering and very good "50's" details (love the wheels). Might not be the best design. Lacks a bit of "Peugeot DNA" if you know what I mean. With a few adjustments it could be an retofuturistic Audi.

- "402 Equinox" - Good perspective renderings. Cool details (love the steeringwheel), but the split-windshield and the headlight-covers are not very good ideas I think. This design also lacks some "Peugeot DNA" in the front.

- "402 Darl mat" - Probably the one i like the best. Good perspective renderings, lots of "Peugeot DNA". Love the four outlets on the side (links to the original car). However the sideview (top of image2) shows way too small doors, and I'm not too happy over the sideview proportions.

To say something of the other designs:
- "402 GC (GrandChild)" - Colourful, interesting interior (too bad this is an exterior competition), futuristic but not very retro.

- "404CC" - Very 50's/60's. Not very futuristic.

- "FUSEAU" - Very gold! Very retro and a bit Hot-rod... Love the simplicity of the grill.

- "Peugeot 308 Darlmat" - Good renderings. Nice front, but the back is way to long. Looks like a pick-up. Not as retro as the background-renderings.

- "Peugeot CC" - The best retrofuturistic design in automotive history... :p

- "Peugeot FOV" - Good renderings. Very retro. A fun-machine....but not THAT fun...

- "X-time" - Good renderings. Very positive and enthusiastic artist (very activ in community forum). To be a bit silly: A "retro-kit" for the 206....

What do you think?

Cool design, sort of Viper-ish.

Your avatar is really creepy.

i agree about the creepiness of your avatar :surprised

anyway. really like this car, i normally HATe back arch's covering the wheel like that but it just looks so smooth af driveable :)

ho did you get the 2d rendered feel?

Creepy avatar? Look who's talking...

Solid white background flattens the image. I think that's what you mean with 2D feel?

cuse
01-23-2003, 02:04 PM
haha, well, you got me there... but the 2d feel, i meant it looks like its been painted as well.

:D

O.Martin

Well, it's not painted. Used few colours, that might give the effect. Or maybe it's just a few generations of hard compressed jpeg combined with scaling down... I really don't know.

Nice to see a car that doen`t look the same as everybody else.
Realy nice work.

Really cool design, I like it a lot!
But I don't like the renderings, IMO the model is way to good to be presented in such a way. :surprised
Neither the material nor the lightning is really convincing...

I guess you used a Cinema Version before 7, otherwise Radiosity would have added a lot realism with some simple clicks...:p

Whatever, sweeeeet design!

Greetings

p.s. i like the way the doors open :)

Joel - Creative - VSLX: Thx!

XerC - Thx! I submitted the project with 20 sec left on the clock (close call)... I didn't have the time to do radiosity, just plain raytrace in a simple 4 spotlights scene (+ one poitlight inside the car). All in all I think the renders looks OK, but hopefully I'll get the time to do some breathtaking renderings later. Due to some practical and copyright issues, Peugeot want the finalists to be careful about displaying other renderings than the 4 submitted official contest images. At least untill the winner is announced the 17th of February.

Here's an image I made for an newspaper article (very carefully within the guidelines from Peugeot).

Oh U already build a real version? That's nice :)

I still search that pic, I've told U...from aston martin.

Today I've seen a test about the new Lancia (ehh) Thesis? Also comes with that long stripe like tail-lights.

Hmmm, I may should check your website? :)
Wanna see more of your work.

Can U remember the name of the AM prototype, or was it a drawing?

The Lancia Thesis has an odd front. As they say - not my cup of tea. The rest of the car is OK.

Daniel - I've finaly found out what car U talked about. It's the Lagonda Vignale! Am I right?
