CGTalk - extruding faces

hey there,
its me again with a for you simple question, but it would be nice if you guys could help me out.

this comes out when i try to extrude the top faces
its a subdivision cube i smoothed (3) -> maya 7.0

i just want the whole top to be extruded but ive tried and tried, it always comes out like that. :\

Try it wirh keep face togheter.. you can even still set it after you have extruded in the attribute editor :)
