x2ego 07-26-2006, 06:31 AM Hello All:
This is my first post here and my first car model attempt, so fire away. I'm looking for critique and input on everything about this render and model. Thanks

There's some really great work happening here! Well done. You should be proud of this. I do have just a few crits, though:
- The tyre material is a bit strange looking. I usually do my tyres with a very dark grey diffuse, a quite large (but not at all glossy) specular level and a slight noise bump map (to break up the large specular highlight you'll be getting). At the moment they look plasticy and you don't want that!
- The interior needs texture. You can use bumpmaps to really make it look real quite effectively. I'd use a very small speckle or noisemap for the dashboard and a larger, less sharp noisemap for the leather seats.
- You might want to try a different material for the rims. I think you'd find they'd work really well with a less "bling bling" look - perhaps an anodised look? Brushed steel? Choose what you like. I just think that the chrome cheapens the look of this obviously very expensive car.
- I just noticed that the inside has no roof lining :o

Mystikos:
You've got a good eye and some good suggestions. The tire material is my first try at it and hasn't been changed since the inception of the model. I'll play around with it and keep in mind what you said. The interior actually has some Simbiont materials on it, but I guess tha angle and distance did not make them show up too well. Although the interior is supposed to be monotone, I think I need to change it up a bit too.
It is a WIP, so yes, there are still some things to finish on it like the roof lining, headlight lenses, brake/gas pedals, etc.
I'll post another render with changes reflected soon. Thanks for the input, and do check it out again after said changes.

Thank you Chris. I've actually already read through your F100 thread. Very nice work on the truck. I like that ole truck with the wide lowered look. It'l be fantastic once you're done with it and it's all rendered out. I'll keep checking on it too.
Just for fun, I'll add a pic of my first vehicle attempt. It was actually a car model from a tutorial that I tweaked into a truck.

Did some more detail work not too visible, but I know it's there. Want to take a look at IBL and see if I can get an even better render. Hope you like it.
