Alright, I just got 3D Studio Max 8. However, I can't really do much with it because its really confusing. I've been learning it all of today...making basic shapes...but that's about it.

I really want to get into making 3d people...doing faces, making realistic looking CG people for a project I want to do.

Could somebody post links to tutorials oriented in this area?
Also...I have seen a couple tutorials where it puts a picture of someones face into 3ds max, and they make it into 3d. It doesn't actually say HOW to get the picture in there. Could somebody help me out with this?

Thanks a lot everyone!

There's a huge resource within max itself called the help files and tutorials ....beyond that just do a google search for 3dsmax tutorials ..check out 3dbuzz....3dpalace....3d quakers....I could go on ..and on..and on....and on...and on....

I've been looking on google, but I can't find anywhere that actually explains how to get an image file into max. I would also use the programs tutorial, but whenever I click it nothing comes up.

You must be using the 30 day evaluation copy then since I believe that's the only valid version without tutorial files....here's what I found on autodesks site http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/linkedsumindex?siteID=123112&id=5728245&linkID=5604642

Yeah, I've got the 30 day trial. I just wanted to see if it's something that I could actually learn to use before I actually purchase it. Thanks a lot.:)

Look on the 30 day trial page, you can download all the documentation on the same page, along with all of the materials... and everything that comes with the full version.

I would recommend also then picking up a book or two. Something like: the 3d studio max bible. It'll set you back about 50 bucks but it's worth it.
