After checkin out the last two contests I decided to throw my hand in on this one. Here is a sketch of my idea for my monster. Part bull, part man, part machine, I was inspired by the Greek minotaur but wanted to throw a modern twist on it. Hope you dig it.

t'anks for the words of encouragement. I think I'm gonna throw one more genre into the mix and add a ronin/japanese influence to him. The name Torus kinda sucks so I thought I might change it to Terra-bull or maybe Mino-terror, hmmmm........choices choices......man, been checking out sum of the other wips, jeez, people working like mad men, and women, round here!

It's coming along nicely! :thumbsup:

I like the short, stumpy horns in the concept as opposed to the longer, curvy ones. Maybe it's just the perspective of the concept sketches and that's what you were going for in your mind. Looking great either way.

Thanks for the input and props. I had originally modeled short horns but though that he was coming out kind of goat like. I started looking around at pic of bulls and minotaurs and noticed that most have the longer horns. I think I will give the "stubbys" one more shot........we shall see.

Are you going to make on of his eyes mechnical, that would be a cool touch!!. looking good, I like the short horns in the concept as well.

Nice mix! I like the 3d head very much, long horns fits better, i think. Mmmhh, i´m not sure about the rocket launcher on the back, even he seems to rely more on his axe...

k-
spent the last couple of hours working on the legs, pelvis, and feet. Feeling good so far but a long way to go. I want to add sheilds to the knees like in the concept art. The feet are very basic right now, I want to work on those more.......

put some more work into the head, added eyelids. He's feeling a little more sinsiter, changed up the angle of the horns.

Only got to put in a couple of hours today, went and saw Resident Evil and Ice Age. Both were ok, nothin' super crazy, but Blade 2 comes out next week.............looks awsome....
Blocked out the chest, still a long way to go. Pretty happy with the sholders, want the pecs to flow better, gonna have to wait till later....

I like a Happy god, not a vengeful god.

The face is great, but I personally don't like the mecanical legs, it dosen't say "God" to me. :D

I would have to agree so_hi, I am shooting for more of the demon side of the comp, allthough I guess he could be the axe totin' mecha/bull/god of doom or somethin'......
I figure he's more of somekind of brute strength inforcer demon that you would summon when you want to put a woopin' on somebody....
we shall see.....

well after a bought with some cough pills that made me overly compusive, I ripped the chest appart and put it back together. Here it is, lemme know what you all think.

-side note:there are some damn good looking wips in this comp!

Thanks guys! DS, I am modeling this in Maya and using a ray diffuse render. Right now there are no textures used at all, veins and scars are cut into the mesh, a technique that is tedious but enjoyable.

Im glad you dig it cg, at first I wanted to create a more photo realistic torso but when I thought about the over all vision of a half man, half bull robot, I think making the model more extreme would work better.
I set up a high rez full body, head/torso/legs, render and will post it when it finishes.

Modelling is really good :) like the body!!!!

But in the Composition it looks like he
would fall forward!!! Hope you know what
i mean!! try to find some Balance in your model!

Thanks for all the kind words everybody! I would have to agree that he looks front heavy. I think when I add the tail and rockets to his back he will be a little more balanced. Here is another render of face detail.

Dreadling this is very cool, I especially like the face, also the style of the eyes is a nice touch. Once you rig and pose him that will resolve the off-balance issue

thanks low down, glad you dig how it's coming out. I put in some work on the hands and there getting close to being done. They came out as a sort of half man half beast combo. I'll try to put up some pics tomorrow.

Well, the good news is that my model is done, bad news is since this is my first time through a contest i thought we were suppost to submit a final pic to someone. After poking around abit this morning, i figured out this wasnt quite how it worked.
Im gonna post a pic anyway, if it gets in the judging then right on if not, there's always next month. For me its not really about winning, i just want you guys to be able to see how my work finished up.
Thanks for checkin out my stuff all month and for the input and creative shaping.

Excelent dreadling!
I really like this one. The robotic legs are awesome and the muscles very very detailled. I think you've done a great job :thumbsup:

Only the hand is not....mm.. my cup of tea. But I think is a cuestion of tastes. :)

hey all,
thanks for the kind words of incouragement! I still plan to add the rockets, just gonna have to do it on my own spare time. All and all im really happy with how this one turned out. I had thought of doing human hands but decided i wanted to expand my experiance and do almost pig like hoves. Hope you all like it and talk to you later
