I have to admit, I have no clue of what a dateline is. A date line, yes, a dateline, no. So if you could be more precise for all the non native english that don't get the topic such as myself, that'd be very kind :)

Thanks in advance :)

A dateline is the all-caps line at the beginning of a newspaper article that states the location, and sometimes the time, such as "WASHINGTON, D.C."

It's also the imaginary line around the 180th medirian where the day is "reset" so that if you fly around the globe, you don't go back in calendar time.

Ohh, that's why I didn't know. I never read newspapers... That's a pretty tricky theme O_o

Thanks for the info!!

:)

-RWouldn't that be a "deadline"?

Anyways, I did the International Date Line interpretation. I couldn't think of any other interesting way to illustrate it, so...

Here's about what it looked like after 35 mins. PSCS/Wacom.

And fifteen-ish minutes of fudging around later.

Title: Army Field Telephone, For Tacticians
App: Corel Painter IX
Time: 35 Minutes
Tools: Opaque Acrylics, Wet Acrylics, and a touch of camel hair oils and the pencil

I was gonna explain the concept (which kind of became a little arbitrary after I came up with the original idea) but... I'm gonna leave it to your mind, as food for thought.

p.s. i didn't really know wtf a "dateline" was either, so... to help you out, i split up the two words and thought of it as two entirely separate things

I still have no clue what "dateline" is even after I look at the dictionary. It's going to be a tough one to sketch about it.

Dateline:

1) The imaginary line on the Earth that separates two consecutive calendar days
2) A service to hook up lonely hearts
3) A late night tv news magazine

He just meant deadline, in fact. And I know very well what deadlines are :) (oh, no, the deadline's tomorrow and I still have 2000 words to write on my report!) Often, deadline = sleepless night :)

so, whatever the topic is...:D...this is totally amazing, Gord....

Maybe yo just hit a nerve about how I feel today, but the simplicity and the tight on-the-spot humour is just classical.

Gotta remind myself to go out of my normal ways and come voting for SOTW this time around...:)
