Hi Guys,

I am new to the whole character modelling thing. So I was wondering if I could get some crits from the pro's who do this alot. Basically, I am looking for some feedback on my topology etc. before I go off and figure out how to use zBrush. Excuse the lighting I am still trying to get a handle on SSS in mental ray.

found some more time to keep modelling, hoping to get the mesh sorted soon and move on to details:

generally the loops are good though I'd run those that cross the nose bridge around the mouth rather than towards the ear! - what bothers me personally is the spacing between them - it differs too much - try making it more uniform [like around the mouth - either pull one of the mimic wrinkles lines downwards toward the lips or add one more line in between there]

also about the shape of the lips - the curve outside the upper lip is too wide and uniform - it should become narrower towards the outer edges sooner - hope it makes sense! [I mean it's wide only in the middle and then it keeps going down]

the cheekbone is too sharp - try toning it down a bit... still you can change a lot in zbrush if you mean on displacing it...

hope that helps!

Hi...what program are you using? Could you show a wire of the whole body too? Did yo model the body and then the clothes on top, or did you model the clothes and body in one?

By the way, looking really great. Any goal with this? What are you using him for?
good luck ;)

thanks magdelena,

Initially I was doing something quite realistic but then decided to stylize things a bit. I see what you mean about the mouth I am definately going to have to add some more details there and the lips are really bothering me today !

I have also reshaped the back of the skull as it is way wrong in that profile. BTW I saw some of the work you did on Rebecca's head anatomy challenge, and was really impressed. Only when I checked your thread did I realise it was you. Brilliant modelling !

I am modelling im Maya and rendering in mental ray. I will post a wire of the body once I get some more detail in there it is very rough at the moment. There is no body under the clothes just throwing some rough polygons togther between shots today !

I am a actually a Shake compositor so I have no real need to do this, I am just stretching myself a bit to get back in 3d while there is not too much on at work. I am hoping to do some sort of complete scene and maybe rig the mesh, but it all depends how busy I get.

Thanks for comments
