this is a daft question probably but ive got an object..assigned a texture to it but the texture is way too big..how can i scale it in UVW projection?

ah..thanks..thats why i couldnt find it..i havnt got body paint;)

by the way...if a model has been imported (stl) is it possible to create a uv set (is that the right name?)...when ever i give the texture uvw mapping it just vanishes of the model...all other mapping types work fine..???

Have you tried this:
With your material tag selected (object manager), select the texture tool. Then, in the object manager click Texture > Fit to Object
?
If you haven't got Bodypaint and find it perhaps a bit expensive, there's a good UV plugin:

im on mac so that plug doesnt work..im downloading the bodypaint demo now...if it solves my problem ill buy that
