Title: Dwarf the Blacksmith
Name: Martin Fujan
Country: Slovenia
Software: Photoshop

I worked on this image for quite a long time now, the work actually begun in last summer. Afterwards, it was left in the hibernation until now, when I made completely new image out of it.
It was originaly made for a challenge in Slovenian Tolkien Society (http://www.drustvogil-galad.si/) last year, and it depicts a dwarf blacksmith working on the blade (a dagger actually, dwarfs are not very tall creatures).

Thanx a lot for all of the comments,
Martin

First off, hello from Slovenia, joined for the reason of replying to this :P

The image is awesome and I have to say I admire the colouring, very nice.
I've some qualms with the beard though, it seems like it is being pulled rather badly and doesn't feel loose enough, hard to explain, it should arc more imho, also it should cast a harder shadow on the torso.

Greatly improved since I last commented it! Composition is quite good (the primary and the secondary areas of interest - the eyes and the hot sword - are at the thirds of the height and the line ov view functions as a psychological composition line). The choice of colours is adequate.

Could it be even more improved? Of course - most of all I miss a bit of smoke or a smoky atmosphere - from the glowing sword, around the fire, in the lower parts of the image etc. Besides that it is a pity that you didn't use a slightly "less standard" point of view (lower or higher) and emphasized ("wide angle") perspective - that would increase the dramatic feeling and the feeling of action in the illustration.
