Hi guys. I'm really terrible modelling with splines and I'm finding it hard to model a simple chair. could someone please model me one as I'm sure it will be really easy for alot of you or give me tips on how to do it myself.

the reference pics are attached. I just need to the seat section which is 45cm wide, 43cm deep and 47cm high.

thanks alot for any help

Right, well I'm a maya guy, but the principals are the same. You have a pretty good front and top view there, so try and use them as much as you can for reference. Also, I'd really consider using polys for a model like this. Here's what I'd do :

I'd first set about by poly modelling the shape in the top view. Model one half of it and then mirror to make up for any odd angles in the pictures. Then add meshsmooth (I think thats max, yeah? :D) to check your progress, and go back and tweak if needed.

When thats done I'd move onto the front view. Move the points up or down to their relative positions, but keep checking the overall shape in both views, by adding meshsmooth, and add extra verts if needed.

When the top and front views line up (as well as they can with the provided images), add in the curve of the back part. As the model is pretty low poly at this stage, it should be pretty simple.

After that extrude all polys to give the seat depth, then add support edges to control the smoothing.

Let us know how you get on mate
