Hi

Just wondering if there is a quick way to build a large scale city using a plug-in? In 3DS MAX there was the handy "greeble" plug-in which did just that. Is there something similar in Maya?

There is a random grid shader on highend3d.com that you could use as a displacment and convert to geometry.
