Set a keyframe at the begining . . one at the end . . . change the middle and you have a loop.
Is that what you're asking?

no but maybe what i need to do is animate a asteroid rotating.....and loop that while i animate it's position later but i want it to keep that constant rotation

If you have R8, you can use an expresso expression to cause the asteroid to constantly rotate. I've done this with things like airplane propellers, etc., where you just want the thing to rotate no matter what else happens in the animation.
Here's the way I did it:
Put an expresso tag on the object you want to rotate. Then, drag that object into the expresso manager. Add an input for the particular rotation value that you want to alter. Put a "TIME" node into the expresso manager as well, and add an output for "frame" to it.
Now, run the frame number into a "calculate" node, and run the output of that into the rotation input of the object node. Set up the Calculate node depending on how fast you want the object to rotate.
Now, the object will always rotate, and you can keyframe positions and stuff independently.

Ok, gotcha . . .
You can also select the time curves in "f-curve" editor window, then select (under the curves menu) "cycle with offset" set the amount to something more than you need and you're done. Add more animation to the object by grouping it to itselft (new null-node) .
