View Full Version : AE 7 trail not installing
jason108 07-23-2006, 05:43 AM Hello fellow AE friends.
Well I haven't found any help with the issue of not being able to install AE 7 on any of my XP pro SP 2 work stations. No one could help on the adobe forums with this so I'm coming here to see if anyone has any ideas.
The problems the same on both of my work stations. After I double click setup.exe I get a dialog box asking me what language I want. I choose "English" the "ok" and thats it. Nothing happens after that! I've done system reinstalls on both computers and still nothing. Has anyone else come across this? I'd like to buy AE 7, but if I can't install the trail why would I be able to install the full version?
thanks for your time
Jason

1. If you didn't install with autoran you must right click on the your drive, and than setup.exe
2. Maybe your free AE7 İnstaler have a problem didn't finished and where do you download it ?
3. If you download by adobe when i first downlad AE7 by adobe.com, i can't install and than i download by DAP(downloader program) i can install :)

Hello
I found a bunch of other posts on problems installing AE 7 from the DVD. They all were fixed by copying and pasting the files to there hard drive.
But that hasn't worked for me.
I installed this to see if that was the problem Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable.
still no good.
Any other suggestions?
thank you very much

Hi .I'm relatively new here, but have lurked on here for a while. There seems to be a few people asking about this situation- not just on here, but other graphics/compositing forums.
I had a similar situation, where my trial version had run out, and whilst waiting for the software to actually turn up- I was delighted and had purchased the CS Production Studio- I redownloaded the 1.2gb file from Adobe to see what would happen. Despite uninstalling the original trial, the "new" download performed in exactly the same way that is described by Jason108 here: hanging on installation. I went through all the info I could glean from other users/forums - (removing thre open GL plugin, copying files to C Drive etc, changing the Y/N in the MSI prefs) all of which did absolutely nothing.
Luckily my Production Studio software turned up in the mail 2 days after, and everything installed perfectly. I can only assume that Adobe puts some kind of security /honesty timebomb in the trial software that somehow affects the Windows registry to prevent piracy/ licence overclocking.
If this is the case- good on them, for finally starting to turn the tables on the pirates, and those of us who actually buy their software; however if people are having legit problems in installing the trial versions, Adobe should address their policy on not providing support for trial software: fewer people will buy software, if they cant run a suitable demo- especially after such a sizeable download!
Thoughts anybody?

1. Adobe Production Studio = 5 DVD 16GB
2. You can't download trail Production Studio
3. At adobe.com, AE7 trail is working

I had serious issues installing Production Studio. Has to do with some services that are running in the "normal operating enviro". What you basically do is open your msconfig via start>run>msconfig and edit your start services.
You basically shutting everything down but the installer services.
Here is the link to the "official" Adobe how-to:

Hi- Im not saying anything to the contrary of the above- merely pointing out that AE7 is part of the Production Studio- and I'm assuming that there are security differences between a downloadable trial and purchased software.
