View Full Version : Modeling /Anim - Maya and XSI
phykaiser 01-20-2003, 10:21 AM I have started to use XSI but I wanted to ask Maya users who have used both which one they think is harder/more effective. Looking at the modeling and animation abilities of both software. But I believe that from what I know Maya is better suiteg to game dev. than XSI or is that a generalization?

hi.
i started using maya 6 months ago. i think it's a wonderful package.
proved XSI Experience, the free version of xsi, and i can't used to it. it's a bit different with this 3 button moving, rotating, scaling.
but xsi is very good for rendering. this is the powerful part of it.
so i stay with Maya.

Well I havent really dabbled in Maya yet. I do have the Maya Learning edition but I am trying to get to grips with XSI now and if it does seem right for me then I will move on to Maya. I have used more of 3ds max in the past so it is quite a change using XSI.

ive used both programs for about 2 years now, ...and i
personally perfer maya because of a couple of things
firstly, the shading interface is the best in maya, modelling
is great too , especially now with the bonus game tools
i really like all aspects of maya except some quirks in modelling
and rendering
as for xsi, i really think its moving faster in development over maya, its modelling is top notch but takes a while to get used
to if uve been using maya alot, it has faster renders also
it really comes down to what package suits you
