View Full Version : Object–Digital Sculpture

Hello everyone. This is my first post. I'm a designer. I recently decided to try 3D modeling, however I think I approach it diferently than most. I've attempted and partially completed a face or two and a character, but modeling characters hasn't really sparked my interest.

My original, and current, reason for creating this image has been to create something that is asthetically pleasing. If all things created reside in form then at the basest of levels shouldn't there reside pure form, free from representation. As in abstract sculpture, which is the formation of dicrete objects, this image is purely form. Which is why I've labled it digital sculpture. I appolgize for the lacking description but I honestly don't know what else to call it.

I don't want to frame the critique by telling you what I want hear back. I want to hear what you want to say, if you want to say anything.

To the Moderatro:
I am aware that this post may not fit within your set of posting rules, however I done my best to conform to them, so if you could skip the boot on this one I would appreciate it. I assure you that I am highly serious about this post.

its nice... if you';ve noticed the majority of the stuff posted here is model centric.... as in they are not trying to create a standalone iamge, but rather a standalone model.

since your trying to make a standalone image I'd like to see something a bit more involved to look at... whether that be a some sort of commentary or something more visually interesting.

at the moment there is nothing to keep the eye for very long

interesting...looks like some sort of container on its side.

I have to agree with Krugar, the image by itself is a little bit dull, interesting but too semetrical.

very interesting! I think thats an 'A' battery stripped of the sticker! looks kinda cool, i read that someone thought it wasn't interesting enough to keep your attention on it for long enough, i think they're kinda right....maybe throw in a reflection of some sort, like your face plastered with a smile, but barely visible/recognizable so that ppl can't see it at first.

i actually really like the simplicity of it. very minimal.

it is still somehow lacking some kind of depth though.

looks like a bunch of shower heads to me.

Thanks for all of the great crit. I'm gald to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

I really enjoy hearing what everyone thinks it might be. I was discussing with crime 101 what it should be posted as, he thought –Abstract Object, thought by many to be trash cans– was funny but not appropriate.

However they are not intended as trashcans, but you are all free to see what you wish.

I don't know what the items are, though I'm leaning towards Chupa in that they are bullets. However, I think you have done exactly what you set out to do, because I think the image is very asthetically pleasing. I like the lighting and the angle and location of the items in question. I agree that it's kind of cold, but it's cold in a modern metallic sense. I like it a lot.
