View Full Version : Male Body WIP
streetsy 07-22-2006, 06:04 AM This is a model I am halfway through at work. After many years modeling product shots like cars, penguins, tampons, coke bottles etc, I finally get to model my first male figure. (It has stopped me working on my own model which I have a thread about already. Hopefully this wont take too much time to finish and then I can get back to it.)
About a weeks worth of work so far. Not included are the areas I am not happy with just yet, hands, legs etc. Probably will include a Zbrush layer of mapping and if time permits a blendshape layer to tone this guy down and add some body fat. The shader is a Mental Ray skin shader pretty much standard. Referenced from a sculture of a flayed figure I bought from the freedom of teach guys.

wow. thats really good. As a compositor who is suffering a spasm of intrest in 3d at the moment I am just trawling through 3d modelling threads. I really like the muscualture. The face seems very clean and wrinkle free at the moment. Is this going to be added in the zBrush phase ?

great attention to details. But there are three things I wanted to point out. The belly button looks a bit like a cylinder. I think the top of the belly button protrudes a bit more than the bottom, which is almost flat. The nipples seem to be a wee bit up. and finally the line on the back extends to the neck, i think it should end below the neck. Other than this, I think your model is boss stuff. Congrats man.

G'day,
vikram_vr thanks for the observations (spot on) and you'll see the updates sometime soon. And Aneks, yeah the zbrush phase will address many wrinkles, viens etc. Not sure if I'll have to come back into Maya to do some of them but I'l see how I go.
Cheers.
Update. Wireframe attached.

Here is the latest screen grab. I am almost out of time to finish the model, so any crits are welcome before tomorrow :) Things still to do are fingers and toes, and a zbrush pass for veins etc. (If your curious about the lack of "tackle" there will be clothes on the model and so its a detail I can't afford the time to add)

body anatomy look great. my only comment is the nose looks alittle flat or blobby. Is it a real person or a generic figure.
Overll its great I'd be happy if my project turns out anywhere near as nice !
