View Full Version : Lancer Evolution VIII MR
Hi.. I'm new around here.
I'm modeling a Lancer Evolution VIII MR. So far, I have finished the exterior, n now i'm playing with materials and rendering. I use mental ray as the renderer with default settings.
Can anybody help me with car paint n brake disc material??
I want to post my work, but I can't seem to post an attachment. :argh: so I'll just provide a link for now. I'll post the pics later.

Is the paint too reflective?
I'm trying to create paint flakes (which u can't see clearly because of jpeg compression) for the body paint, to make it looked more real.
The chrome for headlight reflectors doesn't seem right, does it?
Now, The wheel.

I haven't found the right material for the brake disc.
Crits anyone? suggestion?

Model is nice!!, Material on the car itself is too noisy I think.

nice model. looking good so far.
as for the paint. its a tough one. I never do the paint until I have fully finished the model and have a light setup and studio reflectors inplace. otherwise you can keep changing parameters until the cow's come home.
intially the paint wont look correct, even with falloff, but the trick is to worry less about the paint and more about what you are reflecting. planes with a white material, and increased RGB output is the way forward. creating two opposing dome's on black and one white with a gradient creates the horizon line, again output in the colour channels is important.

niiiiiice, very niiice :)
The dashboard so far. It's pretty darn hard to model accurately without a decent blueprint.

Very nice ! You have great modeling skills for sure. Everything seems very clean. It would be interesting to see a wire... :applause:
BTW, I agree with TimWoods about texturing. Be patient !
Actually, I cheated. LoL.. Sorry..
I adjusted the camera angle so u wouldn't notice the bumps. If u see the wire u could tell that it's a mess. Hahaha..
I'm taking a break, but will continue it ASAP. I'll post the wire next time.

Lookin' good. There was a thread maybe a year ago or so I recall with someone doing a lancer and had really nice materials, you might want to search.
What software / modeling technique are you using?
Thanks, bil2k, I'll search it. I'm using 3dsmax 8 with poly-box-modeling technique
