vikramvr 07-21-2006, 06:37 PM Hello everyone,
Ive been posting a few renders of the environment and a character separately. Im in the process of compositing these togther. Here is a first render of the whole scene. Please send your comments on it. I've used Xsi and photoshop for modelling and photoshop for textures. It was rendered in Mental Ray, using Final Gather and GI.

Ill post updates when I have them, but at present, please do comment on this. The things that worry me is the pose and the overall ambience. Please comment on the lighting and texturing too.

The render looks nice, but from the wireframes, your character is pretty messy. The bicep looks funny also, the left arm. But the lighting and everything looks pretty nice :).

thanx for the comments guys, I infact followed tareq mirza from 3dtotal for the modelling process. I dont really know why you feel like that. Ill post a wire from the front, and I'll also post a high res capture from zbrush. I'm having troubles with getting the sub-d level 6 details to xsi, so I thought I would rest with a guy withouth such defined muscles.Any advice on generating displacement maps from zbrush would be greatly appreciated. Please keep commenting. Ill post updates soon

I think you should pose his hand better so that it looks like he's pulling the curtain back with it.
And definitely put a gun in the other hand haha.
Cheers

The character texture looks great! For the right arm, the inner part seems to be too bright. And, the overall lighting color is too white, may be you could try to tweak it to add some sun light feeling. What's the Time for your sence?
keep it up!

hi vik
saw ur latest post man look good but few things i wd like to point out
his biceps r looking bit odd in terms of shape(specailly left). his right arm area looking bit bright as well. u mihgt have to work on skin shader cause its giving u very hard highlights on his face chest and on his right arm. there shd b a softer falloff. his cap is looking too dark. even if it is a black cap amount of light is falling on his body and in the room u shd get some shades on cap aswell.
curtains, his jeans and his tatoo looks good. but i think it wd be good if u cd post another render of room with or without charecter in it. i wd like to see another room render.
image outside window is looking bit odd as its perspective is not matching with the camera, lighting as well and its too soft (may be) . so u might want to change it.
thats it for now man just tell me wht do u feel and if i am wrong newhere
thanks and good luck
