what was your workflow with this piece? Just looking at it i'd say you took a photo and applied 'find edges' then painted on top of the line work. i could be wrong, but if so you should mention it.

as for the color its looking quite good. my personal suggestion would be to leave the white highlights on their own layer. White can kill an image. it should be used super sparingly. just little sparks of highlight, not a smooth transition to white. You should check out the reference photo and youll probably see that there is a sharp jump to the white highlight in most cases. If you desatureate the photo youll probably see that the lightest part of the skin is something like a 15% grey, and then a sharp jump to white. Its that crisp detail that gives the skin texture.

the other thing id say is to take a cood look at the temprature change between the light and shadow side of the tentacles and face. Youll find in most cases (especialy the little tuber hole) that there is some very warm pinkish color as you transition to shadow. Its not always there, but when you back light skin like that (like light behind an ear) the blood underneath gives a redish glow in small places. I looked everywhere for a good high res pic of Davey and this is the only one i could find. Not the best quality but it has what im talking about.

Hey thanks for sharing your opinion. As you said, i didnt do find edges or something like that. I used a picture to draw on paper and then scanned it on the computer and painted over it. Your right in a lot of stuff, but the thing is, this is my 3rd job paiting with colors, im mora a fan of charcoal, but i really want to learn, and im only using tips from web and some magazines. Im trying to learn, its all by myself basically. Im glad that im not that bad :). Thanks man, Here is a pic of the drawing i did on paper.
