Greetings Guys we are thinking about going from Max to Maya at work... We are looking at getting one or two Maya Unlimited Seats and the rest will be Maya Complete Seats.

My boss has asked me if we can network batch render Cloth and Fur etc on the "Maya Complete" seats?

Also along those lines can we open and edit (mesh editing or animation) and save characters etc, in Complete if they have fur / cloth Associated with them? Will the Fur/cloth nodes stay intact ?

thanks for you time

for the rendering i would suggest installing unlimited on all machines.
like that you will have complete during UI working (your license will do that) and unlimited during rendering.
(alternatively you can copy the fur and cloth dll files to all machines. but i would recommend the way of installing unlimited)

concerning the question about editing in complete: yep.. that should work afaik.

Excellent thankyou kindly for your prompt reply ... ( man i love this forum :) Let me see if I understand you correctly. We can buy a few licences of complete ... and legally and install them as unlimited ? and work in them as complete... and they will render as unlimited ?

I hope that makes sense ...

hrrrm im thinking I may need to talk to a reseller about it .

yep..
in your license file is stated if it is a complete or an unlimited license. even when you install unlimited you will only have the maya complete features available in the GUI, when you only own a complete license.
the render liceneses are always unlimited licenses..

so all legal and running :)

Also i think when you buy unlimited you get a crazy amount of rendering liceneses for free, check with your a|w reseller they will know the details..
