Hi folks

I decided to do a creepy version of Pan, this is what I came up with so far. Hopefully I will get to finish this, but if not, this is a lot of fun anyway :)

Tell me what ya think :D

peter pan right... anyways i like the idea... a twist version of a childrens story book hero always seems a litlle more evil...lets see some 3d now!

Well not exactly Peter Pan :D

Pan, the god of woods and fields, of flocks and shepherds.

"Pan was dreaded by those who passed through the woods by night, for the gloom and loneliness of such scenes dispose the mind to superstitious fears. Hence sudden fright without any visible cause was ascribed to Pan, and called a Panic terror."

A playful, energetic but irritable god.
Inventor and master of the Pan flute even :D

That is just a basic description of him. I have dug up a lot of dirt on ol' Pan ;)

Here is an update, not much yet, no horns even :p

But I couldn't resist doing a render :D

It sure is a challenge to extract the 3D model from your 2D image

Cool man very traditional look to it. Some things I think that could help this model would be thicker legs. Not too much but just a little thicker than they are now. Also the abdominal muscles look like bump maps. I know they are extruded but perhaps work with them a little more to realy make them pop out.

Thanks AnimBot :)

Good point abouit the abs, i'm definately not done with those yet, I suppose the lower legs could be a bit thicker too :)

OK, I ripped out the abs and redid them, I think they are much better now.

When you hear from me it's usually only when I am overly excited by something I have seen,,,,,,,, this is one of those cases................I love the character here. It has a great deal of character even in this static state.............with some animation and facial expressions this character would be off the charts.

It has that whimsical look, magical and besides being fun to look at it has depth. The only thing I could think to add right now would be some kind of vine like tatoos in a place or two, it seems your character belongs in some magical forest of some kind.............Well I love your character, it gets 5 stars from me, and I am too picky to begin with, so that tells you how much I feel about it.................Looking for a little more to make it 6 stars out of 5............ so get going...........;) :)

Hey Max_Power,

Great model, I like to see how much it has progressed through all of the comments. The over-all model is great. The only thing that I would make a suggestion on are the nipples and the Trapezious muscles. Take a look at the size of your models deltoids. If you aren't following me, I am talking about how large your shoulder muscles are. Most of the time, if your have large deltoids (like your model), then you would have large trapezious muscles. Those are the neck muscles in between the head and the deltoids. Enlarge those and I bet your model will work just a little bit better. As far as the nipples go, he must be a very cold demon. The stomach area looks great now that you have improved it. Keep up the good work.

I see the traps being in proportion with the shoulders, the characters shoulders seem to be more of a wide frame type. Not so much a weight lifters cannon ball shoulder look. I think they are fine, and in proportion with the rest of the body, but it's nice to have our own opinions.

Can we have an update. I hope to see more depth added, it really is close to being top notch,.........................;) :)

How is your hair made? I really like the look of your character, and as I'm pretty new in 3D modelling, I want to absorb every knowledge possible... Hope to learn something usefull...

Hi guys, sorry about not posting lately, been too busy to work on this :(

Thanks for the very kind remarks Virtuoso, sgiuoco2, Buus and -OZ- :)

sgiuoco2: I have toned the shoulders down a bit while I was rigging this beast. But I kinda like the proportions, though I do see what you are saying. And the 'nipular' area could be toned down to, but hey it is cold in the forest ;)

Buus: for the Hair, I made a form to fit the head, then I extruded each poly to make 'hair', then I ran a noise plug-in to jiggly the hair model. Then it is subdivided of course :)

I'll try and post an update soon.
I feel myself kinda stuck, not sure what to do to finish it :D , but your comments have helped to jumpstart me :lightbulb

Well, this is about all I have time to do.

I tried to pose him in something resembling a pose, and I whipped up a Pan Flute too :D

I don't have the shoulders rigged quite right yet, having some trouble with them :annoyed:

Thanks for the great challenge CGTalk! This was a lot of fun :)

Thanks for the comments, good advice much appreciated :)

Thanks for the four stars too
