The flame i created a few weeks back (just a simple light in an emitter) i'm planning on using the flame for a 5 or 10 frame loop gif animation.

Is there anything i could do, for when the animation jumps from the last frame to the first, it looks as much like a continuous loop as possible?

either use after effects and blend the flame into istealf a an offest halfway through to make ti look less jumpy, or you can to a couple of things, but it depends on what system you're using.

for instance if it's the old normal particles (not tp) then use TDEM on a crumpled object to emit from teh surface, just set the number of particles emitting over the time period your'e thinkg of to be the same as the number of verteces and you should get a loop.

with tp, then you can emit a shot set number of particles per frame, and you could set them to emit from a set position that loops using a sin wave multiplied a certain number of times controlling the x and y positions, if you multiply by a high enough number it should look random while looping, or you could work out some otehr function, but it's not teh simplest method to do (or understand)... but it will work.

*scratches his head*

This is gonna be harder than i thought.
With it only being around 20x20 pixels i could get away with the after effects trick ..i think. Problem is i don't own after effects, is there a demo or maybe other software that will do this? I'm sure i had a program that did just that, which i got from a magazine's demo disc

Cheers

you jsut eed to fade through at an offset, maybe you can use some free editing software to do it. the main thing is to start adn end on the same frame to create the loop. imovie will do it, and there's a pc equivalent, so its' al you need.
