And you thought the Christmas parties were crazy before!

"Following the closing of the acquisition from IDT, Rainmaker intends to acquire the balance of the shares of Mainframe. "

"At Rainmaker, we've long admired the work and track record of Mainframe," states Franklin. "Both entities have been making significant strides into each other's areas of expertise and the time is right to harness our joint skills and talent pools. We're eagerly looking forward to combining our ranks and continuing our growth momentum."
Mischel concurs, "The blending of our two businesses will be good for both our clients and our staff. We will continue to each serve our core clients while also expanding that base with our pooled creative services. Mainframe's animators will provide Rainmaker with additional creative talent and at the same time, will benefit greatly from access to Rainmaker's pipeline, state-of-the-art film lab, and proprietary technology. We'll also be more nimble in our plans for developing intellectual properties, especially with our return to Canadian ownership."

"Franklin summarizes, "The proposed combination would enable both studios to maintain a competitive infrastructure at a lower combined cost, while building long-term shareholder value through proprietary development and ownership. Combining these infrastructures will lead to greater efficiencies, time management benefits, and creative solutions."
"The client base for long form animation and visual effects are primarily the same," Mischel adds. "Combining our terrific teams and their ability to model, animate, light and create, along with each company's strong reputation in the industry, will give us a competitive edge once these skill sets are managed as a whole. This will be a destination studio for customers seeking a wide-range of effects and animation work." "

Ahhh, there has been rumor around town for some time that Rainmaker was ramping up an animation division. It makes sense to just buy a studio thats already established. It will be nice to see some new life breathed back into one of most influential companies that started it all.

Many a Vancouverite has spent time at the 'frame.

"Hey Craig, we'd like you to start playing with some cloth dynamics so we can finally get her dress right"
"huh?"
"Yeah, you know - you're the new lead for Barbie-rella and the fuzzy twinkly rabbit"

Kidding, I had to...:)

Why I oughta...

Naw, hopefully it'll be good for both companies. I think it makes Rainmaker the largest vfx house in Canada, adn hopefully that will attract larger projects. As long as we don't get buried in bureaucratic bloat, thnigs could be really good.

Good to hear that Mainframe is dying and someone came along to pick up them garbage. They took away two big projects from the good folks in the US. Those were Heavy Gear and Max Steel. Foundation Imaging was destroyed by them because they worked for less in Cananda.

I'm pretty excited about this myself! I think we could tackle some awesome projects together.

How about "FrameMaker"? ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the company was owned by a good folk from the US when this happened. The guy who kicked out the original founders and eventually cancelled Reboot productions.

Yeah, and I'm guessing that it was the good folks in the US who made the decision to get the work done in "Cananda" (which is spelled "Canada"). Any US company could have under cut Foundation as well. It happens all the time.

Man, I remember when it was a dream job to work on Reboot. $13.50 a share back in 1997 to less than $1 a share since Nov. 2001.

Nice work! I think your post just qualified for the most ridiculous thing I've read on these forums.
