Well, now that I'm rated as Veteran in this forum (as IF - hehe), i got the stuff together and posted my most recent artwork. A friend of mine wanted to model something... architecture... well, he went like "OK... u got 1 hour to make a concept design and I got till tomorrow to hand in some start in 3d."

I jumped in. A 40 minute drawing and later coloring. This is what came out. It's supposed to be some sort of Base Installation on a desert. hope u guys like it.

Well, I'm a 3D junky and this is my first visit to the 2D board but it looks cool to me. I don't know how realistic you wanted to go but it's a nice style.

As a side note, did you use a stylus to draw and paint it? I am considering getting a stylus/pad for myself and am interested in finding out exactly how many people use em. I figure it's inevitable but I am loath to spend the cash! =)

The style is plainly beautiful. I love the nifty simplicity of it. Looks more like a beach house, tho.

All right, here you go.
It is a good start. But there isn't much going on that is very interesting. It's only a 40min. piece so there isn't much to comment on. As a concept piece, it's pretty good. But the washed out coloring and white border don't make it very appealing to look at for very long. I would like to see it modeled in 3D, because it is a strong model as a building. But if you want to make it a piece of artwork for you personally. You would need to redraw the perspective lines and get all the building lines heading towards vanishing points. There is a really great website full of artwork.

I say go here for some inspiration. He has amazing work on buildings and ships, many still have all the construction lines and vanishing points in place so you can follow his working process

thx guys!

WhiteRabbit.obj - I'm a 3d junky too. though i do lotsa painting. this was hand-drawn (real pencil)... scanned and painted on photoshop with my mouse. i have to buy a stylus too :p

Alevice - thx!! yeah... once you think of it... yeah, it does... hehehe

dmcgrath - i'll take a look at that site. the drawing part was 40 min itself. i didn't get much stuff right because it was pretty rushed. this should be a guideline for a friend who wants to model that in 3d. he already said he would make some changes to it. i think his changes make it look more like a research facility whatsoever.

if my friend gets something going, i'll try to convince him to post something on the WIP once it's ongoing.

thx again
