View Full Version : Aim constrain : Eyes Target

Hi everybody!
I've a little problem with rotation:
-I've create 2 locators and added an AimConstrain for the eyes in the way that the eyes look towards the locators, then I've grouped the two locators and create a new aim constrain for the "group" object in the way that it looks towards a third locator placed between the two eyes, in this way the "group" object moves around the head like a satellite. At last I've grouped the "group" object (with the two locators under it) to the head joint.
-What's the problem? When I move the character, the "group" object (or "eyes target"), moves correctly, when I rotate the head in the X and Y axis the EyesTarget rotates correctly, but when I rotate the head in the Z axis the EyesTarget doesn't rotate, and so the eyeballs don't rotate themselves.

Here a screenshot to clarify.

Thank you very much for any suggestion!

I'm going to guess that you have the up vector set up to world? If so then rotating the head in your Z wont change the up vector and so the aim stays still.

If this is your problem, one way to fix it is to attach a locator above your head and use that as the up vector (set worldUpType to Object up). This way when the head tilts from side to side the new locator will rotate your aim constraint to follow it.

Hope this helps,

Richard
