View Full Version : Some kind of flying object
LoneLobo 01-19-2003, 08:12 PM Hi folks :wavey:
I modeled a strange thing in the last time, don't know a name, don't know why I modeled it, just know that it has a turbine and it flys :D

And here are some detail shots:

I hope, you like it, would be very pleased to see some C&C :D

hehe,
nice model you got there, I love the detail.. it doesn't look like it could fly tho..

I think it looks great, it reminds me of the batmobile when the sides flew off and went rocketing through that little alley in Batman Returns hehe

While the concept is quite disturbing, modelling seems to be quite nice, I like it, though you did renders that showed much more... (the Falloff-Reflection5-HDRI type...)

hi there and many thanks for your comments!!:bounce: :bounce:
Reakwon, I think, "fly" isn't the right expression for it, it'll be some kind of anti-grav vehicle, which hovers some meters over the surface.
High up in the air this vehicle wouldn't look good I think so this will be the direction I'm up to go to.
http://www.shark5060.net/forum/lobo/fly/seat2.jpg
here is an early shot of the seat, I'm trying to model the interior right now, hoping I'll get everything like I wish ;)
[e]changed the pic, this one shows more than 20 polies...
sorry :hmm:

hello there! :wavey:
here's a progress pic of the interior, I'm a very slow modeler :(
http://www.shark5060.net/forum/lobo/fly/interior1.jpg
I cut off the roof to give you a better view to the inner life of the cockpit, I hope you aren't confused by all this wireframes
After all the time I want to finish, the modelling isn't very entertaining at the moment
Any C&C? There MUST be some otherwise it would be perfect

Show some smoothed stuff please...

I have the impression that it gets worse and worse, whenever I try to improve it and keep on modelling...

model with turbine looks really awsome i think.
I like what you've got so far, keep the updates coming. :)

only 6 little cables in the cockpit that i can see, good job :p

I think it looks good...
it looks like some kind of a hover-car, that can go really really fast...
I can see the animation --
The hover-car races through the streets...
Rounded trashcans flying from right and left...
The car takes a sharp turn, and since it hovers, then it looks like it's sliding sideways...
Then the car hovers down the river, splashing water beneath it @ 150mph...
Yup, it can be nice ;)

wow soundwav, this idea is awesome, thank you!
now here are 2 small pics with the Meshsmooth applied and vertexes welded:

I hope you like it, I will work on the cockpit until it looks good :D
and many many thanks to you all, with your comments, you encouraged me to keep on modelling on that hovercraft-like vehicle (It seems that I loose concentration and the will to finish it)! :applause:

watch me, I'm the first and crappy composition of some stupid called "lonelobo".
He now thinks, the modelling is finished, but can't decide, if this is the truth...
He never knows, when his models are finished, and this model doesn't really seem to be ready yet.
I think, Lobo will start texturing this thing in some days, to get a result which doesn't always consists of just a white or a metal-material...

LOL :applause:
I love it! the composite looks pretty good so far, the shadow might be just a little off (but that's just nitpicking now)
I would think that either the hovercar, or the environment would be reduced to a blur-depending on what the photographer was focusing on.
keep at it! love the model, can't wait for textures.

Hey cool model......yeah it does look like a batman vehical...Like if you put a set of bat wings on the side....it could be batwing part 2.....Anyway...Its a nice model....

ehehe, this shadow was PS-work, it's not raytraced or somehting similar ;)
I started with a render with completely white bg AND rytraced shadow, but this one looked that crappy that I decided to do it with PS...
THis one looks crappy too, so It wasn really useful ;)
many thanks for your comments!!

as Wintermute said, the enviroemnet should be blurred... try to render the shadow on a plane, and color dogde it to the background... or something similar ;)
LoneLobo

usually compositing is rendered with a special material namend "mattheit/schatten" (I'm german), so that the shadow is renderes but nothing else. Saved as a tif it shouldn't be a problem to delete the alpha-channel and copy all pics together
But I'll do this later ;)

oh man
THIS was boring work D:
but finally it's done, 252 objects have UVW-coordinates, I MUST be an idiot...
http://www.shark5060.net/forum/lobo/fly/progress.jpg
look, a flying checkerboard!
I'll start texturing soon, hope it'll turn out well
Wow,
That took some guts and patience to tackle. Great job!
