hi folks!

this is my latest wip. carl spitzweg is one of my favorite artists and i wanted to do some work that honors him for the incredible work he did.

german title of the image: 'der eingeschlafene nachtwaechter'
freely translated: 'night watchman fallen asleep'
(the watchman has not been started yet)

the original picture is here: http://www.spitzweg.de/Galerie/Bilder/WV-0722.htm

if you have some suggestions please feel free to tell me. i hope you like it so far.

my tablet pen seems to be broken so i did not start any tiny-modeling.

Yeah, it's nice and a nice idea to try something that isn't a shiny sports car, a fantasy creature or a mech ;) [I love all that other stuff as well but...:hmm: ]

I think the look you're after will come from the textures you apply rather than the modeling.

Looking good.

nice work!
cool job with the stone ground! :D

it seems that you missed a part of the house on the right...like a litle room sticking out of the right house...

i agree with Bliz...its great that you chose something different. do you plan on getting the details through the textures or from more intensive modeling? like for the circular window on the building in the back.

thx guys!

i have not yet decided how detailed the model will be but i will use textures, too.
the right building is not finished.
the circular window at the tower s a big clock. (will model that)

what traditional painters do you like? (fav. pic. and artist)
