mental ray: got 8 satellite CPUs.

when I press to render,maya closes and only output window is appearing on my PC desktop
why.
also I am trying to get distributed rendring with maya mentalray to maya mentalray
which port should I use to ?
I dont want satalite or standalone.
just wantto render with maya for renderman by distributed rendering for 2 machines
where I am doing wrong ?

okay I am trying to get render on 2nd PC
when I am trying to render on 2nd PC (that I want to its only CPU- so I call it slave);
cant add host
however ping responses for both PCs. have no problem

you can check with Alias support, if you have it. Typically when it's actively refused it means there's a firewall issue. You may want to try opening that port on your firewall. As for slaves dying.. I do have had that problem and I think I traced it to old/poor drivers on my 3 Boxx Renderboxxes. I'm in the process of getting the new drivers installed. You may want to look at the Event Viewer > System on all of your render boxes to determine what the issue is. That's where I found out my network card was being 'disconnected' then activated again.
