View Full Version : Blend shapes distort the character

I animated the character. Then I duplicated it, and created many blend shapes for its face. After I added the blend shapes to the character, the face is animated along with the rest of the body moving to the original shape of the blend shape. How can I preserve the face animation without the rest of the body? I need only the blend shape for the face animation.
Can I add blend shapes for the face after the animation is done?

Hello gblanket,

I am not sure which software you are using but it sounds like MAYA...

When creating your blend shapes for the face, make sure that you deleted the skin node so that you are creating CLEAN shapes with his body in default pose.

Make sure your blendShape node is over your skin node under INPUTS for the animated character or else it will animate the face but put the body back to default position. I hope you understand what I mean... I am actually a MAX user so I am not sure if I've put the terms correctly... it should work theoretically... I hope this helps.:shrug:
