View Full Version : component editor column select
sabathyus 07-18-2006, 06:19 PM I once found a way to select an entire column of weights in the component editor with a click, without affecting the hold function. I can't remember how to do that. It was a button combo I think. Anyone know?

select all of your joints go to Window >> General Editors >> Attribute spread sheet
Go to All tab and then it shoud be the last thing on right.. Lock Influence, now click at Lock Influence and it will select all of the fields..type something and ENTER>..

not quite what I meant. I'm thinking of the component editor. Like the attached picture. There should be a way to assign all the values in a column to a value without having to drag all the way down the column. ??

well don't drag.. just click on "L_forearm".. it's acting like a button and will select all of the fields that are below...

On my maya, this results in activating the Hold function as well. Therefore, upon changing the value, my weights change to 1.0 or whatever and my Hold turns On... or more often it just changes the Hold and leaves the values as they are. How are you getting something different?

uh man.,i really dont have idea why this is happening...
what i make is... Created a poly sphere select all the vertex and then created a cluster... then i open the Component editor i go to the "Weighted Deformers" there are all of the vertex that are weighted to the cluster... i click on cluster1 tam above the values and then change it to 0.25 for example.. then click again and they still stay at that value and i can change them again and again and they change only if i type something...

Ok this will sound worse than it is, but works fine.
1. click on the let say "L_forearm" button (like instruct9r said), which selects the whole column including the hold.
2. Hold down the Ctrl key for the next 3 steps
3. Mouse click in the first vertex's weight slot
4. Mouse click in the hold's slot
5. Finally click back in first vertex's weight slot again
This will effectively deselect the hold slot while keeping the remaining weights. Sound crazy, but it takes less than a second.
