View Full Version : transparency problems.. HELP MAYA

hi all there, im having a problem to render a plane which has a transparency mapping on it. but now it turned out quite wierd that i still saw the plane there. erm i know its confusing ..

as you can see , i actually wanted to achive the strand effect. what i do is just convert the colour map to black and white.. and save it as a alpha map for the transparency. we have to use software render. any idea how to fix that square thing there? i just want it to look like hair.. but cant get it right.

i have followed the tutorial but the result stil the same.

What's the material on it? Blinn? It looked the the specular/reflectivity, try mapping the black and white file to those as well.

pick the material

in the Att editor of that shader
under raytrace option
shadow attennuation /...make it 0
