hey there...
so..this is my first post on this forum..hope is not the last one :)
anyways...here I go...well, started two weeks ago, when I started modelling a human head (my first) in 3dsmax, but after I kindda finished it I realized I needed a composition or smth...that's the story...

the sky and the sun are 100% hand painting, the same with the helmet and the head (which were poorly textured in max, so I had to repaint them)..
the whole image is kindda kitschy (hope only kindda:) )...and hope and it's the first one and the last one of its kind in my portfolio :)

overall, my first matte painting :)

and for the true fans of the style, here goes the original, 2500x1200, 1.8 megs

anyways, any feeedback is welcome :)

thanks

Hi,
Sorry, I missed this one when you posted it. One reason (perhaps the main reason) why you didn't get any replies is because its a link, and sometimes people get detered by that.

The image looks OK, (and is not crappy!) its got plenty of impact and there's a sense of distance in it. The composition is a touch kitschy but then you already knew that! :)
I'd remove some of the black at the bottom of the trees in the background and make the transition from dark to light on those trees a little smoother. Some of the foreground elements are a touch bleached out as well.
The foregound in the bottom left looks a bit empty, perhaps a bit more detail here? A plant or something?

Overall though its a good effort! Hope these comments help.

Keep it up! :)

Like South-Paw said, if you post your image instead of a link to your image your bound to get more responses.

but to the image, looks very good, colors are great, the mood is very good, the shadows from the grass is very good, I'd say the downside is compisition.
It seems to me that either the head, or the sun should be center frame, your eyes just do alot of walking back and forth between the two and it gets confusing.

very good work

I'm gonna keep in mind your sugestions, but for the next thing I'll do, I'm kinda bored with the image above already :)

Thank you again!
