View Full Version : Low Poly Biplane
koinu 01-19-2003, 03:09 AM Hey Gang,
This is a low poly Biplane that is going in to a scene as a prop. I needed something to show that a camera just doesn't fall from the sky. It's just a prop for the scene so it won't come into direct view of the cameras. Just started the textures and haven't added the bump for the metal lines yet. I understand that it still needs some texture work still. CRIT PLEASE

It looks cool. I like the stylized cartoonish look (it's not too cartoonish though; it's nice and subtle). I also like the direction you’re going in with the texture, but there's something about the exhaust stains on the wings that doesn't look quite right. I think it's because the stains look painted on since the specular light is affecting them just as much as it is the metal.
What software was used?

keysersoze: the modeling osftware is Maya and the painting is Photoshop 7, about hte textures I've removed some of the exhaust stains and blurred them out some. newer post coming today....

I like the model but the rendering sucks. Turn on AA and render it. The render is killing all the work you put into it.

hmmm.... I think there are too many panels of sheet metal used in the making of this plane... I think you should reduce the amount of panels in the texture... other than that, the plane looks good, but it bothers me a bit that the rudders are part of the wing...

LoneLobo "nice work, but the smoothing is crap"
If you are refering to the Smooth tool in maya, well that's a cheap trick. The edge normals are the one's that are smoothed..
Thanks for all those who choose not to hold back their punches!!!:applause:
