i have a scene setup that has an river with an ocean shader as its texture... now for some reason it won't render in mental ray.. if i hide the river from the scene then mental ray renders the scene properly...

is the ocean shader not compatible with mental ray or is it the dynamics in the river that's not lettin me render the river??

mental ray is rendering objects that use ocean shader, at least from maya 6 onwards.

everything still works fine if one uses outColor of oceanShader as the color input in the other (textured) shader, as well as using its Displacement as the other SG node's displacement shader. so if shading networks are correct, the problem is elsewhere.

i recommend you to turn on higher verbose level than defaults in Translation section of the mental ray Render Global Settings. maybe it'll indicate the problem more precisely.
