View Full Version : ctrl shading specular artifacts?

hey guys,

just making a post on behalf of one of my students. Having a problem with this particular setup - where we get black outs of the areas that seem to relate back to positions of the specular component - taken from ctrl shading.

It crops up every now and then with various configurations.

Anybody got an idea of what this is? perhaps If I even understood exactly what this artifacting was then i could troubleshoot it better :S

Hello, i got this problem in different situations.Sometimes when using bumpMaps, and trying to colorcorrect inside maya.And sometimes using the T2S shader.What i would suggest you to do, is try to start with a simple Shader, and then rebuild all the connections using the nodes you used to build this shader network, until you discover which node is creating this problem.Also, not sure what kind of light you are using there, but avoid the use of the Maya area lights.
