I actually got to see it yesterday. The house is pretty friggin impressive. They really went to town on it. The human characters, I wasn't quite as impressed with.

How was the story?

Decent. Characters were well-defined, none were given short shrift, and the internal logic was generally consistent. Good pacing, and generally it all worked as a movie. I didn't feel that it had that extra "oomph" to make it a great movie. It didn't have any very definitive emotional moments, and nothing to really keep with me after I left the theater. But I'm an adult -- I think it'll play well with kids.

The house was pretty scary, though. Great design on it. If I was a kid, I'd probably have nightmares about the house, especially as it appears near the end.
